A Scientific Visit for Nursing Technology Students to Suz Psychiatric Hospital
Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and the supervision of the Dean of the Medical Technical Institute/Kirkuk, Assistant Professor Dr. Lizan Medhat Mohammed, the Department of Nursing Technology organized a scientific visit to Suz Psychiatric Hospital in Sulaimaniyah Governorate, under the supervision of the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Kalawish Nouri Taher.
The visit aimed to enhance the students’ practical skills, as they observed the mechanisms for receiving patients and diagnosing mental health conditions, as well as methods of pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment. They also learned about the role of the nurse in dealing with common disorders such as depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia, with an emphasis on communication skills and safety protocols.
The visit underscored the importance of psychiatric nursing in supporting the treatment process, and recommended the continuation of organizing field visits to develop students’ skills.
