The Kirkuk Medical Technical Institute organized a university seminar entitled:
“The Dangers of Drugs and Ways to Treat Them.”
Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and with the direct supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Lizan Medhat Mohammed, Dean of the Kirkuk Medical Technical Institute, the Department of Community Health Technologies at the Institute, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division, organized a university seminar entitled “The Dangers of Drugs and Ways to Treat Them.” The seminar was attended by a number of students from various academic departments.
The seminar lecture was delivered by Dr. Jalank Hamid Mahmoud, who addressed the health, psychological, and social risks resulting from drug use, its negative effects on the individual, the family, and society, as well as outlining ways to reduce the spread of this dangerous phenomenon.
The seminar aimed to:
* Raise awareness of the health and psychological risks associated with drug use.
* Highlight the impact of drugs on social and economic relationships.
* Encourage young people to make sound decisions that protect their health and prevent them from falling prey to drug addiction. * Strengthening the role of family and community in preventing substance abuse and addiction.
The seminar also addressed key approaches to combating the drug phenomenon, including:
* Raising awareness and providing community education.
* Enhancing the family’s role in monitoring and guidance.
* Strengthening religious and moral values.
* Providing treatment and rehabilitation programs.
* Combating drug trafficking and reducing its spread.
* Encouraging young people to engage in scientific, cultural, and sporting activities.
