An awareness seminar on the dangers of drug abuse was held at the Kirkuk Medical Technical Institute.
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, and the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Lizan Medhat Mohammed, Dean of the Kirkuk Medical Technical Institute, the Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit at the institute, in cooperation with the Community Health Technologies Department, organized an awareness seminar entitled “The Dangers of Drug Abuse.” The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Laila Abdul Sattar Sadiq and Dr. Bushra Nour Al-Din Ghafour, and was attended by a number of students and faculty members.
The seminar addressed the definition of drugs and their effects on the nervous system, as well as the health, psychological, and social harms they cause. It also discussed their role in increasing crime rates and family breakdown, emphasizing the importance of early awareness, prevention, and the availability of treatment through rehabilitation centers and psychological and family support programs.
The seminar aimed to enhance students’ awareness of the dangers of drugs, instill positive values, and support the role of the family and community in reducing this phenomenon. It also stressed the need for concerted efforts to build a conscious and safe society.
