A Scientific Workshop at the Kirkuk Medical Technical Institute on the Transmission of Parasitic Infections and Their Relationship to Sustainable Development
Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Lizan Medhat Mohammed (Dean of the Kirkuk Medical Technical Institute), the Community Health Technologies Department, in cooperation with the University’s Quality Assurance and Performance Division, organized a scientific workshop entitled:
“The Transmission of Parasitic Infections to the Human Body and Their Relationship to Sustainable Development.”
The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Layla Abdul Sattar Sadiq, who addressed the most prominent methods of parasitic transmission through contaminated water and food, vector insects, and contaminated soil, and their impact on human health and sustainable development.
The workshop aimed to raise health awareness regarding methods of preventing parasitic diseases and to highlight the importance of clean water and environmental sanitation in reducing their spread. She also emphasized that combating parasites contributes to promoting public health and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of health awareness and cooperation between educational, health, and environmental institutions to reduce the spread of parasitic diseases and serve the community.
