The seminar featured:
Mr. Fatima Fadhel Saleh
Assistant Professor Dr. Fadan Fikrat Ahmed
The seminar addressed:
The most important concepts related to communicable diseases, in terms of their definition, types, and methods of transmission, with a focus on daily behaviors that contribute to the spread of infection within boarding schools, such as sharing personal items or neglecting hygiene. It also discussed effective methods of prevention, most notably: regular handwashing, good room ventilation, personal hygiene, hygienic waste disposal, and the importance of ongoing health education. The role of students in spreading awareness among their peers and encouraging healthy practices that preserve the safety of the student community was also addressed.
The seminar aimed to:
Raise the level of health awareness among boarding students and enhance their ability to prevent communicable diseases by providing them with simplified scientific information about the causes of infection, its transmission methods, and ways to limit its spread within the residential environment. The seminar also sought to encourage students to adopt sound health habits, such as personal hygiene and regular disinfection of common areas. It emphasized the importance of adhering to health instructions issued by the relevant authorities, which contributes to creating a healthy and safe residential environment for all students.
The seminar concluded:
There is an urgent need to enhance ongoing health awareness within boarding schools, especially regarding communicable diseases that spread easily in shared residential environments. It also became clear that some students lack accurate information about the methods of infection and prevention, which calls for the implementation of periodic educational programs and the provision of simplified awareness materials. The seminar emphasized the importance of promoting preventive health behaviors and activating the role of students as awareness ambassadors within the dormitories. It also emphasized the need for cooperation between the health administration and the student administration to ensure a safe and healthy environment. The seminar highlighted that health awareness is the first line of defense against communicable diseases, and that students’ adherence to simple preventive measures such as handwashing, ventilating rooms, and not sharing personal items can significantly limit the spread of infection within dormitories. The seminar also explained that a closed residential environment poses a risk factor if preventive measures are not taken seriously. It emphasized the importance of adhering to health instructions and cooperation between students and administration to ensure public safety. It also highlighted the role of ongoing education and early reporting of symptoms in controlling any potential outbreak of disease.
