The Medical Technical Institute in Kirkuk Organizes a Scientific Seminar on Domestic Violence and its Impact on Mental Health
Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and the supervision of the Dean of the Medical Technical Institute/Kirkuk, Assistant Professor Dr. Lizan Medhat Mohammed, the Department of Nursing Technologies, in cooperation with the University’s Psychological Counseling Unit, organized a scientific seminar entitled: “Domestic Violence and its Impact on Mental Health.”
The seminar featured presentations by Assistant Professor Dr. Kalawish Nouri Taher and Lecturer Dr. Bushra Nour Al-Din Ghafour. The topics covered included the concept of domestic violence and its types, its psychological repercussions on individuals, especially children, as well as its causes, methods of prevention, and treatment.
The seminar aimed to raise community awareness of the dangers of domestic violence and highlight its psychological and social effects, while emphasizing the importance of psychological support, legal awareness, and economic empowerment as means to reduce this phenomenon. The event concluded by emphasizing that mental health is a fundamental pillar for building a healthy society, and that confronting domestic violence requires concerted community efforts and breaking the silence.
