Kirkuk Technical Medical Institute, Department of Community Health Technologies, concludes a scientific course titled “The Importance of the CBC Test in Diagnosing Diseases”
Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Lizan Madhat Muhammad.
The Department of Community Health Technologies organized a scientific course titled “The Importance of the CBC Test in Diagnosing Diseases” in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit.
The course was attended by:

The course included a detailed explanation of the components of the CBC test, such as red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, with an explanation of the significance of changes in their levels. It also covered types of anemia, particularly iron deficiency anemia and sickle cell anemia, and the effects of each on the body. It also covered the relationship between CBC results and the diagnosis of blood cancers such as leukemia, and explained the role of abnormal white blood cells in this. The course aimed to:
1. Enable participants to understand and analyze CBC test results to help them make accurate clinical decisions.
2. Highlight the importance of laboratory tests in supporting clinical diagnosis and enhancing the accuracy of medical assessment.
3. Enhance the competence of medical and technical personnel in reading and analyzing CBC reports and linking them to the patient’s clinical condition.
The course concluded:
1. That CBC testing is not limited to diagnosis; it is also an effective means of monitoring the effectiveness of medications, especially in cases of chemotherapy.
2. That elevated or decreased blood components can be an early indicator of serious health problems that require immediate intervention.
3. The importance of combining CBC results with clinical symptoms to arrive at an accurate and comprehensive diagnosis.
The course demonstrated:
1. The impact of some chronic diseases, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, on CBC test results.
2. That CBC testing is also used to monitor disease progression and the effects of long-term treatments.
3- The role of examination in early detection of infections by monitoring the number of white blood cells.
