The Kirkuk Medical Technical Institute organizes a workshop entitled “Silent Hypertension”

under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Lizan Medhat Mohammed, Dean of the Medical Technical Institute. The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit, in cooperation with the Pharmacy Technology Department, organized the workshop entitled “Silent Hypertension.” Lecturers: 1- Assistant Lecturer Asia Qader Ahmed

A workshop on silent hypertension.

This awareness workshop on silent hypertension is one of the health activities aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of high blood pressure, known as the “silent killer,” because most sufferers do not experience clear symptoms despite its serious impact on the heart and blood vessels.

*:- Workshop Objectives:
1. To introduce participants to the concept of blood pressure and its importance in the body. 2. Explaining the causes of high blood pressure and the factors that influence it.

3. Highlighting the dangers of “silent hypertension” and its serious health consequences if neglected.

4. Teaching attendees how to measure blood pressure correctly.

5. Promoting awareness of the importance of regular checkups and a healthy lifestyle for prevention.

*Workshop Topics:

1. What is blood pressure?

A simple explanation of the nature of systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

2. What is silent hypertension?

It is high blood pressure without obvious symptoms such as headaches or dizziness, making it difficult to detect without regular monitoring.

3. Causes and contributing factors:

Genetics.

Obesity and lack of physical activity.

Consuming salty and fatty foods.

Smoking and chronic stress.

4. Complications:

Heart disease.

Kidney failure.

Strokes.

Vision impairment.

5. Prevention and treatment:

Following a healthy, low-salt diet.

Regular exercise.

Avoiding smoking and alcohol.

Regular medical follow-up and blood pressure monitoring.
