A university committee, headed by the Dean of the Kirkuk Technical Medical Institute, Assistant Professor Dr. Lizan Medhat Muhammad, and members of the university committee, inspected the proposed site for the College of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity in Kirkuk, as well as the Kirkuk Technical Institute. The committee reviewed the final preparations for the establishment of the college and the new academic departments that will join the university and governorate’s educational system.
The visit aimed to assess the readiness of the infrastructure, laboratories, classrooms, and technical and scientific requirements required for the college’s launch, in accordance with the standards approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The tour also discussed the site’s engineering designs and work plans for technical equipment that are compatible with the nature of the new specializations, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, two of the most in-demand specializations in the local and global labor market. The committee chair, the Dean of the Kirkuk Medical Institute, emphasized the importance of this unique project in bringing about a qualitative shift in technical education in Kirkuk Governorate. She noted that the college, which is scheduled to open, will keep pace with the rapid developments in the digital world and contribute to preparing specialized personnel capable of meeting the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The committee also commended the efforts of the engineering and technical personnel supervising the project, calling for the technical and administrative requirements to be completed as quickly as possible before receiving the ministerial committee responsible for the establishment.
This step comes as part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq and our university’s efforts to expand the base of modern technical specializations and support innovation and digital education in academic institutions. This will contribute to enhancing student capabilities and meeting the requirements of development and the labor market.
