Molecular Biology and Its Applications in Medicine

The Technical Medical Institute in Kirkuk Organizes a Workshop Titled: “Molecular Biology and Its Applications in Medicine”

Under the patronage of the esteemed President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar,
And under the supervision of the respected Assistant Professor Dr. Lezan Medhat Mohammed,
The Quality Assurance and University Performance Division, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy Techniques, organized a workshop titled:
“Molecular Biology and Its Applications in Medicine”

The workshop was presented by:
Assistant Lecturer Shen Ai Ahmed Mohammed and Assistant Professor Yuxel Ezzaldin Swaid.

The workshop covered:
The concepts and principles of molecular biology and the most prominent techniques used in the field, with a focus on its practical applications in medicine such as diagnosing genetic diseases, early cancer detection, development of gene therapies, and techniques of precision and personalized medicine. The workshop also included practical examples of the role of molecular biology in improving the quality of healthcare and enhancing the understanding of diseases at the molecular level.

The objectives of the workshop were:
To provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the principles and fundamentals of molecular biology, and to highlight its vital applications in medical fields, including disease diagnosis, development of gene therapies, and personalized medicine techniques. This contributes to improving the efficiency of scientific research and its clinical applications.

The workshop highlighted:
The importance of molecular biology as a modern and essential tool in the development of precise medical diagnostics, and in understanding disease mechanisms at the genetic and protein levels. It explained how these technologies support medical decision-making and the development of customized treatment strategies based on the patient’s genetic characteristics, thus enhancing the effectiveness and outcomes of treatments.
