The Council of the Kirkuk Medical Technical Institute held its sixth session, chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Lizan Medhat Mohammed, Dean of the Institute. The meeting conveyed the directives of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, concerning enhancing the quality of the educational process and adhering to academic and administrative standards within the university’s various departments.
The meeting included discussions on several topics related to the current state of education, most notably:
• Organizing the learning environment to ensure smoother attendance and study.
• Promoting scientific publication and encouraging faculty members to increase the publication of research in international and local journals, in line with the requirements of sustainable development.
• Emphasizing adherence to the uniform dress code in the academic departments for both morning and evening studies.
• Supporting and organizing scientific and student activities to foster a conducive learning environment.
• Monitoring the implementation of the academic plan, the operation of laboratories, and their development needs.
• Activating the role of the library and encouraging faculty members to contribute theses, dissertations, books, and scientific research. • Discussion of the minutes of academic departments, performance evaluation results, lecture progress, and adherence to approved study hours.
• Examination of several administrative and financial matters and the adoption of necessary recommendations, with an emphasis on adherence to legal procedures in all processes.
The council also stressed the importance of visiting student dormitories and directly assessing students’ needs, contributing to the provision of a suitable and safe university housing environment that ensures student comfort and academic stability.
In the context of enhancing safety standards, the council indicated the necessity of proceeding with the implementation of the ISO 45001 international standard for occupational health and safety within the institute’s facilities, in line with the university’s commitment to a safe learning environment and the application of comprehensive quality standards.
The session concluded with a number of recommendations aimed at improving the quality of education and developing the academic and administrative work environment within the institute.
