The Nursing Department was transferred to the Technical Medical Institute in 2024. Before this date, it was one of the scientific departments at the Kirkuk Technical Institute since 1988.

The first batch of students graduated from the department in the academic year 1989-1990.

The total number of students for the current year 2024-2025 is (215) for morning studies.

Evening studies were also introduced in the department in the academic year 2015-2016. The total number of students for the current year is (312).
